Children's Book Week

Another fun day!  One of our book week activities was to make a class mural depicting our favorite book.  After narrowing down the choices, we as a class chose Magic School Bus.  They liked it because you can learn science from it while being entertained.  Each student was assigned a different part to add to our mural (which was done it chalk.)  I'm loving the school bus, planets, characters such as Liz and Mrs. Fizzle, the sun and stars!  The class really came together to make one big picture instead of lots of little ones. It's amazing what they can do when they put their minds to it.

There is a contest and the winning class gets snow cones!  I love snow cones and I HOPE WE WIN! (OK, I did do my part. I wrote the lettering and drew the circle for Jupiter.  The rest of the credit belongs to the students!)

RESEARCH PICTURES

Some students who don't seem to have a shy bone in their body suddenly get shy when the camera is out.  Ha!  Very cute presentation!
Fabulous game show!  I'm so proud of these students who worked together and got creative!
Thank goodness for friends who do things so you can do them too!  Good job boys!

RESEARCH!

Students went online and used books to research natural disasters.  Then they got into groups and put together a report on a natural disaster of their choice.  We had lots of fun presenting to the class and getting videoed.  I promised them I would put their project online so here they are!

Wild Fire Group  This group did the entire project by themselves with no help from me at all.  In fact, they found information about wild fires on their own also.  It wasn't one of the disasters we had on our list.  They were also the first to present so each helped another group.  Great job!

Tsunami Group  These students each wanted to research floods, hurricanes or just a lot of water.  I talked them into researching tsunamis.  They did a very good job.  What hard workers!

Earthquake Group  These boys were just about to present when they decided they had an idea.  Someone else presented and they had just about 5-10 minutes to get this together. I was impressed when I saw their game show and even more impressed with their acting abilities.  They need to be in the movies!
