Fifth graders at our school had wonderful science projects about the food chain.  They brought them to our class and shared with my class.  I told my class that THIS is what they have to look forward to when they get in the fifth grade.  They absolutely LOVED it.
The fifth graders sat at our desks and my class went around to look at the different projects.  There were all kinds of animals and habitats were made from all different sorts of materials (pictures, small toys, play-dough, construction paper, stickers and even water,)  The big kids shared how the food chains worked and about predators and decomposers.
Here is P explaining to A about his habitat. I remember him from when P was in the first grade!
So simple but I loved her owl and this is the project that summed it all up for me.  Looks like A is enjoying it too.
See how interesting and on-task them all are!

These kiddos need to come and teach my class more often!  Thank you Mrs. T's class!

Social Studies Role Play

I have quite the group of performers this year.  Each group of students made up a quick skit about how to deal with bullies.  I had so much fun watching them that I had them do it again so I could take pictures!

Science

This week we began our study of Balance and Motion in Science.  The pictures are of the students experiencing balancing cardstock crayfish, arch and triangle using their heads, hands and fingers.  We discussed the point of balance and how balance is used in our world.

Welcome!

Hello Families of my Second Graders,

I decided to start my own blog so I can post pictures and tell the day to day happenings of my class.  My favorite thing to do at school is to see my students get excited about learning.  I often take their pictures because, number one, they love it!  It helps them feel special and loved by me.   It sends a message that what they are doing is IMPORTANT and worthwhile.  They are proud to see themselves in the slide show that plays on the promethean board every now and then.  I want to be able to shared these pictures with all of the families. I hope you enjoy them.
